GTK has launched a 3.5” HVGA TFT with an integrated graphics controller on the FPC, allowing users to interface directly with the display, excluding the necessity for any additional graphics components on their PCB.
The TFT comprises a four-wire resistive touchscreen, which is polarised with a six o’clock viewing angle. From a performance perspective, it boasts 240cd brightness, 320 x 480 pixels resolution and a 500:1 contrast ratio. It utilises a serial interface and connects to the PCB through a ZIF connector.
Clive Dickinson, business manager for Displays at GTK, said, "This is a really innovative advance in Display technology and helps OEMs save space on their PCB and speed up their graphics design element of new product designs. This is suitable for any application that requires a graphic controller and is perfect for products that need to be compact in size, such as handheld diagnostics, time-attendance systems or smart home devices."
There are customisation options for this display, comprising custom graphic ICs and brighter backlights (up to 1,000cd). The resistive four-wire input may be substituted with a capacitive touchscreen, and designers can also investigate further options such as antimicrobial touchscreens or even completely touchless UI solutions. The company's technical experts can offer support and guidance to OEMs to assist them in designing the right display for their specific application.
