Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new series of HI-TMP surface-mount wet tantalum capacitors with high operating temperatures to +200C in the compact C case code. Providing a smaller size and footprint than equivalent through-hole and overmoulded high-temperature devices, the T24 series is intended to utilise board space more efficiently and achieve increased reliability for oil exploration and defence and aerospace radar applications.

Measuring 9mm x 7.1mm x 7.4mm, the capacitors feature a tantalum metal case with glass to tantalum hermetic seal. Optimised for timing, energy hold-up, filtering, and pulse power applications, the devices provide improved thermal shock capability to 300 cycles and offer a longer life of 2,000 hours at +200C, eradicating the necessity to utilise larger through-hole devices in demanding environments.

The series features 200C derated voltage ratings of 45VDC and 75VDC, with capacitance values of 33µF and 10µF, respectively, and a capacitance tolerance of ±10% and ±20% standard. The devices operate over a temperature range of -55C to +85C, to +200C with voltage derating, and provide maximum ESR down to 2.5Ohm at 120Hz and +85C. The capacitors are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.
