Design support helps innovative long-life tracker to market

Created to perform for years, with no external power or charging, the company’s NaBi Solo is a special battery-powered long-life tracker product that facilitates the collection of GPS location with any kind of sensor data, for example, for a mixture of devices in a broad variety of use cases – from the location of a piece of machinery or a gas bottle to the internal temperature of a food transport container. The usage of low-power transmission technology and its highly flexible configurability indicates the device can monitor any assets with no electricity, therefore inducing a paradigm shift in the asset tracking and smart sensor industry. There was no achievable solution before deploying 5G technology to GPS track an excavator bucket or a traffic sign.

A Red Dot award winner in 2021 in the ‘smart product’ category, the device is a configurable smart sensor device that employs NB-IoT – a standards-based LPWAN technology. Employing the 5G mobile network, it facilitates the transmission of relatively small amounts of data while utilising extremely low levels of power consumption.

The device facilitates the sending of data to cloud-based data-analytics processing software – which may then be employed by organisations to optimise processes and significantly decrease or even remove costs, as well as potentially producing completely new business opportunities. The collected data can be read by customers through the web interface, mobile app or REST API.
