Bluetooth Low Energy switch module enables compatibility with mesh systems

ZF Friedrichshafen AG will present its battery-free Bluetooth Low Energy switch module at the Light + Building Show.

The introduction of Bluetooth 5.0 allows for compatibility of a mesh operation (e.g., Silvair), in which every Bluetooth device can forward data from neighbouring devices. Also, the risk of interference of signals in the same frequency range may be limited by intelligent frequency jumps with up to 1,600 jumps per second on free channels.

The switch module is an energy harvesting, wireless and battery-free switch module for the building automation sector, such as lighting and shutter control. Employing the mechanical actuation of the rocker, a voltage pulse based on induction is produced to reliably send RF telegrams via the Bluetooth Low Energy RF standard. The switch module has four contact points, which enables it to realise up to six functions (with two rockers), e.g., for the switch on/off or dimming.

The modules offer the user a high level of flexibility through the installation process. The products prove their reliability with almost unlimited lifetime, do not cause environmental pollution or waste and have no maintenance costs.

ZF will be presenting the Bluetooth switch module, including the Silvair mesh function, together with an Osram LED at the show.

Light + Building Show, hall 9, booth B54, Frankfurt, 2nd to 6th October 2022.
