Safeguard against salt spray with corrosive-resistant RF interconnect

07-09-2022 | Amphenol | Connectors, Cables & Enclosures

Amphenol RF has introduced a line of safe and sustainable radio frequency connectors and coaxial adapters with improved durability. These robust interconnects are provided in environmentally friendly, cadmium-free tin nickel plating for harsh exposure settings. The extra layer of protection this plating supplies provides reliable RF performance and conductivity.

This plating option is RoHS and REACH-compliant. Mechanical robustness is accomplished by applying alternate plating that can expand the RF adapter's life in situations exposed to adverse conditions, such as marine environments and outdoor recreation areas.

These tin nickel-plated connectors and adapters have been exposed to concentrated salt spray and tested for the corrosion of the base material. These products are validated for up to 720 hours of salt spray operation and are IP67-rated for protection against temporary submergence. IP67 ingress protection is accomplished using specialised o-rings and gaskets surrounding the dielectric and centre contact. This seal stops damage to expensive internal components.

Corrosive-resistant RF interconnects are ideal for marine GPS, remote base station and environmental measurement equipment applications.
