Oscilloscope has unparalleled update rate to find signal anomalies quickly

30-01-2023 | Distrelec | Test & Measurement

Distrelec now stocks the new Rohde & Schwarz MXO 4 series oscilloscope – the first in the world to provide a real-time update rate of 4.5 million waveforms per second, allowing engineers to see more infrequent events than is feasible with any other instrument. Users can not only capture more signals but also measure them more accurately.

Providing an industry-best combination of performance and value, the series is the first of a new generation of oscilloscopes with its 12-bit ADC at all sample rates. The instruments' 12-bit vertical resolution (18-bits with HD) provides 16 times the resolution of conventional 8-bit oscilloscopes with no compromise on measurement precision. Users can view sharper waveforms with signal details otherwise masked by noise. As well as superior vertical resolution, these new oscilloscopes deliver the lowest-in-industry system measurement noise of 22µVAC (RMS) at 1mV/div.

Comprising five models with a bandwidth of 200MHz to 1.5GHz, the series offers the industry's deepest standard acquisition memory of 400 Mpoints on all four channels and an optional 800 Mpoints interleaved. At the core of the new scope is the MXO-EP (extreme performance) ASIC, which processes 200Gbit/s. It has up to 100 times the standard memory of comparable instruments, and the memory controller in the MXO-EP makes sure the oscilloscope stays responsive with deep memory.

Additional ground-breaking features of the series possess the fastest and most accurate spectrum analysis function in its class. The scope offers a spectrum acquisition rate of 45,000FFT/s, which allows spurious spectrum events to be captured, particularly during EMI debugging.

The scope has also been made simple to use within 15 minutes thanks to an intuitive user interface and R&S SmartGrid on a 13.3" full HD capacitive touchscreen.
