Mouser now stocks the MOTIX TLE989x MCUs from Infineon Technologies. Expanding upon the company's already comprehensive and proven portfolio of MOTIX MCU embedded power ICs, the family of MCUs features a CAN (FD) communication interface and delivers roughly 60% more processing power compared to the TLE987x product family while supplying additional functional safety and cybersecurity capabilities such as secure boot and key storage. Using a minimal footprint, these MCUs incorporate a gate driver, MCU, communication interface and power supply all on a single chip, facilitating an unbeatable level of integration and system cost for a variety of automotive and smart three-phase BLDC motor control applications.

The MCUs are an excellent fit for designers looking for high-efficiency motor control functionality with embedded control and communication support in a single device. The device's motor driver is intended to operate a three-phase motor with six external power NFETs. The MCU combines a 60MHz Arm Cortex-M3 core, allowing advanced motor control algorithms, such as field-oriented control, and features six fully integrated NFET drivers optimised for driving the motor with a charge pump that supports low-voltage operation. A safe switch off the path for the bridge driver supplies a fail-safe mechanism to turn off the motor and safely handle errors, satisfying ISO26262 and ASIL-B requirements. The device offers programmable current and current slope control for optimised EMC performance, and the on-chip peripherals comprise a current sensor, a successive approximation ADC synchronised with the capture and compare unit for PWM control, 8/16 GPIOs, three BEMF comparators and twelve 16-bit timers. The integrated CAN (FD) transceiver and MULTICAN+ controller support CAN (FD) protocol communications up to 2Mbps.

The MCUs are housed in ultra-compact TQFP-48 and LQFP-64 packages with a wide -40C to +175C operating temperature range. The devices are supported by an evaluation board (TLE989X EVALB_TQFP), also available to order from Mouser. The evaluation board provides sockets for both package variants, and every pin of the IC is connectable via rows of pin headers. The board is ready to be connected to a car supply and presents a USB port for the onboard SWD debugger.
