Microcontroller delivers high-performance motor control

Mouser now stocks the RA8T1 Arm Cortex-M85 MCU from Renesas Electronics. This MCU meets modern motor control demands, providing high performance, low power consumption, and intelligent operation. It supplies precise motor control for applications including building and industrial automation, smart home devices, and medical equipment.

The MCU features a 480MHz Arm Cortex-M85 core with Helium technology, providing up to a 4X performance boost for DSP and ML implementations over the Cortex-M7 core. The efficient, high-performance MCU is suitable for AI predictive maintenance applications that detect anomalies and reduce costly downtime. The MCU offers up to 2MB of code flash memory with dual-bank, background and SWAP operation, 12KB of data flash, and 1MB of SRAM with Parity/ECC. The microcontroller features an Ethernet MAC controller, USB 2.0 full-speed, and advanced analog functionalities, making it a highly adaptable solution for various precise control tasks. In addition, the MCU is equipped with a range of analog and communication peripherals for increased adaptability and functionality. The MCU includes advanced security features such as leading-edge cryptographic algorithms, TrustZone, Secure Boot, and immutable storage.

The RA8T1 evaluation boards and the Renesas FSP support the MCU. The FSP allows faster application development by providing all the infrastructure software needed, including multiple RTOS, BSP, peripheral drivers, middleware, connectivity, networking, security stacks, and reference software to build complex AI, motor control and cloud solutions. It permits customers to integrate their own legacy code and choice of RTOS with FSP, thus providing full flexibility in application development. Using the FSP eases the migration of existing designs to the device.
