Same Sky’s Motion and Control Group has added a new series to its innovative AMT absolute encoder family designed to support larger motor shaft sizes from 9mm to 15.875mm (5/8"). The AMT24 series, based on the company’s proprietary capacitive ASIC technology, brings the same high levels of durability, accuracy, and immunity to environmental particulates as current AMT encoder models. Outputting 12 bits or 14 bits of absolute position information with single-turn or multi-turn output options, the series uses a high-speed RS-485 protocol for fast, low latency position data.
Offering radial or axial cable connections, this absolute encoder series is housed in a compact modular package with a locking hub for simple installation. It delivers low power consumption of 16mA at 5V, a wide operating temperature range from -40C to 105C, and high accuracy of ±0.2 mechanical degrees. The digital nature of the series also enables users to set the zero position via the company’s AMT Viewpoint GUI or the encoder’s RS-485 protocol. Also, the digital interface of the encoder can be used to set addresses for multiple encoders sharing the RS-485 bus.
The AMT24-V kit provides users further flexibility in their design with the support of nine different sleeve bore sizes from 9mm to 15.875mm and simple mounting tools under a single SKU.
