The combination of proprietary, environmentally friendly materials and processes with an electric double-layer capacitor design makes the XLR-LV supercapacitors from EATON extremely reliable. These powerful energy storage devices, available now from Rutronik, are available in different variations for various capacitor solutions. The modules, with a capacity of 500F, are maintenance-free at operating temperatures of -40C to +65C and have a lifespan of up to 20 years. They are characterised by an extremely low ESR of 1.7mOhm, particularly high surge strength and minimal standby current. They are UL810a certified, RoHS compliant, and achieve the highest IP65 protection rating. This makes them outstanding for usage in advanced applications such as emergency power supply, pulse power supply, and hybrid energy systems.
The energy storage devices are installed in aluminium housings for better mechanical integrity and cooling and have a laser-welded internal structure that ensures their high reliability. To achieve 18V/500F in the same housing size as comparable products, the XLR-LV supercapacitors are now obtainable with 3V cell technology.
They can be employed as the sole energy store and in combination with batteries to lower costs and optimise service life and operating time. The capacitors can withstand surge voltages of up to 105% of the maximum operating voltage, have a capacitance tolerance of -5% to +20% and offer four industry-leading best values with a minimal ESR of 1.7mOhm)
Extremely low standby current of maximum 8mA and maximum shock and vibration resistance of SAE J2464 and J2380.
Typical applications include automated warehousing, main drive power supply for AGV vehicles (rechargeable in 20 seconds), H2 fuel cells for power ramps management, and backup for industrial machinery.
