Emerson has added to its DAQ lineup, introducing the NI cDAQ-9187 and cDAQ-9183 Ethernet chassis and NI 9204 input module. Together with a GitHub repository for NI FlexLogger DAQ software plug-ins, these new solutions supply cost-effective options for deploying high-performance test and measurement systems over Ethernet.

The devices' chassis is the first entry-level Ethernet solution in the company's NI CompactDAQ family of hardware. These budget-friendly chassis are specifically designed for electrical and sensor measurements over Ethernet-supported distances. Both models feature a single Ethernet port and omit external trigger lines, lowering costs without sacrificing performance. They also include QR codes for quick access to 'getting started' videos and relevant documentation to help streamline the setup process.

The accompanying NI-9204 ±10V input module provides a lower channel count and a more affordable alternative to one of the company's most popular DAQ modules. It supports differential and single-ended channel configurations, includes multiple gain settings, and features a 16-bit ADC to deliver precise, reliable measurements. Engineers can build higher channel systems with advanced NI synchronisation technology and IEEE 802.11AS-compatible switches or by connecting the new entry-level solutions at the end of a daisy chain of chassis.

"Our NI hardware and software advancements provide engineers with tools that enable better research, improved product quality and greater innovation," said Jesse Lyles, vice president of Emerson's test and measurement portfolio business group. "From optimising for cost-effective sensor measurements to enhancing workflows through customisable software, Emerson is focused on meeting the evolving needs of engineers in the test and measurement space."

To improve its software portfolio further, the company has also introduced a plug-in repository for its NI FlexLogger data acquisition software on GitHub. This open-source platform permits test engineers to download, upload and share custom plug-ins, extending the functionality of NI FlexLogger for diverse application requirements. The repository includes templates and contributions from the company's engineers and the broader user community, allowing faster development, improved test processes, enhanced functionality, and easier integration into existing NI FlexLogger setups.

To improve the availability of its test and measurement offerings, the company supports perpetual licensing for NI FlexLogger software. Customers now have the flexibility to select between subscription and perpetual purchase options, permitting them to select the model that best aligns with their business needs.
