Radar sensors for superior sensing in challenging environments

Mouser now stocks the K50R R-GAGE radar sensors from Banner Engineering. The K50R series provides a robust and cost-efficient alternative to photoelectric and ultrasonic sensors for challenging indoor and outdoor environments. The sensors are excellent for short and long-range detection applications, including AGV, tank-level management, and vehicle detection at EV charging stations.

The radar sensors are among the most cost-effective industrial radar products on the market, needing significantly less operating power than other radar sensors. The sensors operate reliably in a -40C to 60C temperature range and are highly resistant to ambient weather conditions, including rain, snow, fog, and direct sunlight. The series features 40° x 30° models that closely match ultrasonic performance and 80° x 60° models that deliver broader coverage over a larger area. Dual discrete outputs permit multiple detection zones, while the Pulse Frequency Modulated output provides real-time distance measurements.

The K50R R-GAGE radar sensors are straightforward to integrate and configure, featuring Banner Measurement Sensor software and base and flush mount housing accessories for different installation requirements. The sensors also include built-in indication using Banner's trademark LED technology. The Standard models provide presence-absence indication, while the Pro models can display complex colors and animations such as target presence-absence, warning zone indication, or real-time measurement feedback. The series can be employed to detect parking spot availability, prevent mobile robot collisions, or measure tank levels in a car wash.
