IMDT has launched its latest SOM and SBC products: IMDT V2N SOM and IMDT V2N SBC. These platforms, built on the newly introduced Renesas RZ/V2N processor, deliver a cost-effective, energy-efficient solution for developers striving to accelerate AI-driven vision applications at the edge.

Following the successful release of the V2H-based solutions, the new V2N SOM and V2N SBC are developed to make AI-powered embedded systems more accessible to a wider range of applications, including robotics, smart cities, industrial automation, IoT, and smart retail.

The Renesas RZ/V2N processor brings efficient AI capabilities, a quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 CPU, and an integrated AI accelerator while focusing on optimised power consumption and affordability.

Compared to its counterpart, the V2N-based family of products features up to 15 TOPs (Sparse) AI performance and supports up to two four-lane MIPI CSI-2 camera connections, making it an excellent choice for cost-sensitive edge-AI applications.

"As an official Renesas ecosystem partner, IMDT is committed to delivering scalable, production-ready AI hardware solutions that leverage the power of Renesas processors," said Avi Shimon, CEO of IMDT. "With the launch of our V2N-based SOM and SBC, we are reinforcing our role as a trusted provider of Edge-AI computing platforms, enabling developers to deploy AI applications faster and more efficiently."

The IMDT V2N SOM provides a modular and flexible AI computing solution that features a Renesas RZ/V2N processor with quad Arm Cortex-A55 (1.8GHz) CPU cores; integrated AI accelerator (Renesas DRP-AI3) for vision-AI workloads in a compact form factor (58mm x 36mm x 6mm) with 2 x 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 camera connectivity, and 4K encoder/decoder. It offers customisable memory (DDR, eMMC), a customisable carrier board and the associated SW services.

The IMDT V2N SBC transforms the V2N SOM into a highly integrated, compact mini-computer, ideal for rapid AI application development. Key elements include a Multi-Camera Solution by up to 2 x 4-lane MIPI CSI and internal and external ISPs. Full connectivity options are provided featuring M.2 NGFF Key-E for Wi-Fi/AI accelerators, M.2 NGFF Key-B for cellular modules, 2 x RJ-45 (Gigabit Ethernet) with optional PoE in a small form factor of 125mm x 80mm x 20mm. It provides a CAN-FD transceiver on board and 6-DOF IMU, 3-Axis Magnetometer for motion sensing. The solution has a comprehensive evaluation kit for quick prototyping.

By expanding its Renesas RZ/V series processor product line, the company continues to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI technology and real-world embedded applications. The V2N-based SOM and SBC provide a cost-effective and flexible foundation for developers creating vision-enabled AI solutions across multiple industries.
