New products and enhancements from CAN FD to CAN XL

PEAK-System has developments for new technologies in the core area of CAN and other product enhancements that will be presented at embedded world in 2025.

The new PCAN-RS-232 FD designed to connect devices with an RS-232 port as a control and diagnostic interface to CAN 2.0 and CAN FD buses. It is freely programmable for its own specific application, with various code examples already available as starting points.

The PCAN-GPS Pro FD has been added to the company's corresponding device series for the precise and high-frequency acquisition of position, acceleration, and orientation data in harsh environments. With its sealed aluminium profile housing, the device meets protection class IP50 or IP54, depending on the Lemo plugs used. Using two Lemo sockets connected in parallel, it can be readily integrated into measurement chains. Data acquisition from navigation satellites works with an update rate of up to 25Hz. The sensor data is combined and transmitted through a classic CAN connection or CAN FD. Configuration is carried out through the USB interface utilising the supplied Windows program. The module then runs as an independent CAN node.

With a CAN XL starter package, the company makes it possible to get started with the new CAN XL standard, which offers bit rates of up to 20Mbit/s and data lengths of up to 2048 bytes per CAN message. The package includes a USB interface, a comprehensive monitoring program with CAN XL support and an API for incorporating a CAN XL connection into self-created software.

As part of HMS Networks, the company will also present the Ixxat automotive gateway solutions at its booth this year. The easily configurable gateways allow access to various vehicle bus systems, for example for sophisticated gateway, diagnostic, logging, and visualisation applications, and are an ideal addition to the company's portfolio.
