Clean air in the workplace with range of solder fume extractors

The ZeroSmog Guard from Weller, available now from Conrad Electronic, efficiently filters harmful particles, smoke, and gases from the workplace with its three-stage filtration system.

“As the world’s leading manufacturer of hand soldering equipment, we recognise the importance of a clean and healthy working environment. Our new ZeroSmog Guard solder fume extraction system – now available in three versions via the Conrad Sourcing Platform – is the quietest on the market,” says Marcel Teller, senior director of global Product Management and R&D at Weller Tools.

When paired with the powerful new WT1M compact soldering station, it allows workers to solder flexibly and efficiently while benefitting from clean air.

The solution operates quietly and reliably, maintaining a noise level below 50dB – even in continuous operation. This makes it one of the quietest fume extractors available. Its compact design enables it to be placed under the workbench, maintaining 100% of the workspace. There is a selection of three models: The entry-level ZeroSmog Guard Light model is complemented by the advanced ZeroSmog Guard, which also features a filter status indicator, adjustable suction power, a KMnO4 filter, and an optional remote control. The ZeroSmog Guard 2 provides the same features but is created for use at two workstations simultaneously.

With 99.95% efficiency, the under-bench fume extractor from Weller removes harmful substances from the air in a three-stage filtration process with large particles captured in the fine dust pre-filter; a large-surface H13 HEPA filter removes fine dust; and a broadband gas filter (50% activated carbon, 50% potassium permanganate) in the ZeroSmog Guard and ZeroSmog Guard 2 neutralises chemical pollutants, vapours, and adhesives, converting them into harmless gases. The ZeroSmog Guard even effectively eradicates unpleasant odours. The purified air is then safely recirculated back into the workplace.

The product range is ESD-safe, protecting electronic devices and components from ESD – harmless to humans but potentially damaging to sensitive equipment. It also features intelligent monitoring, automatically detecting when the filter needs replacing. This ensures the best conditions for a clean and safe working environment.

All three models come with one main filter and five pre-filters as standard. They are also obtainable as bundled kits with practical accessories: The ZeroSmog Guard Light Kit 1 ALFA includes a Ø75mm hose, ALFA nozzle, and table clamp. The ZeroSmog Guard Kit 1 ALFA also includes a shut-off valve. The ZeroSmog Guard 2 Kit 2 is designed for two workstations; this kit consists of the necessary hoses and ALFA nozzles, along with bench-mounted hose valves, bench-mounted shut-off valves and WFV shut-off valves.

The stackable WT1M single-channel soldering stations from Weller (95W) are the ideal match for the ZeroSmog Guard product range – and not only because they deliver versatile applications for soldering everything from nano components to micro components, along with a short heat-up phase and intuitive operation, but also because, when paired with WT1M soldering stations, the ZeroSmog Guard and ZeroSmog Guard 2 fume extractors automatically switch on as soon as the soldering iron is used. The four WT1M soldering stations are also offered as a set, complete with various accessories.
