Din-rail edge computer line-up has enhanced performance and ultra-compact design

11-10-2022 | Advantech | Industrial

Advantech has released two din-rail edge computers – ARK-1221L and ARK-1250L. These computers provide ultra-compact, rugged, and fanless designs that support wide operating temperature ranges of -40C-60C and voltage input. They support Windows 10 and Ubuntu for simple deployment and integration. Also, adding TPM chips on request allows high-level hardware-based security. This series is created with front-facing I/O that supports integration in cabinets and space-limited environments found in machine vision, equipment control, and smart factory applications.

The ARK-1221L features the Intel Atom x6413E Quad Core CPU (Elkhart Lake) and supports up to 32GB DDR4-2666 memory for computing-intensive IoT operations. ARK-1221L leverages WISE-DeviceOn to supply an IoT gateway to manage edge devices remotely, decrease downtime and maintenance costs, and increase processing efficiency and productivity. Despite its compact size, it offers rich I/O for connection with sensing devices – these include 2 x GbE (up to 2500Mbps), 2 x RS-232/422/485, 2 x USB 3.2, 2 x USB 2.0, and HDMI + DP. ARK-1221L offers multiple internal expansion slots, including mPCIe, and M.2 E key and B key for diverse automation applications and storage, respectively.

Powered by 11th Gen Intel Core i5/i3 processors (Tiger Lake), the ARK-1250L provides responsive, high-performance computing power with AI/deep learning capabilities and low power consumption. It supports versatile I/O connection and over ten selected iDoor I/O expansion modules. These modules promote high flexibility for various AOI, AGV/AMR, and industrial equipment control applications. Likewise, ARK-1250L offers 4 x RS-232/422/485 for motor and radar sensors, 1 x optional CANbus for robotic arms, 3 x USB 3.2 for peripherals like vision cameras, and 3 x GbE (2 x are up to 2500Mpbs) for connectivity. Its internal expansion slots, comprising mPCIe/mSATA, M.2 E key (for Wi-Fi) and B key (for 5G), internal USB pin header (for security dongles), aid users in enhancing solution functionality. Built with the company's DeviceOn/iEdge, the device supports standard industrial protocols, including Modbus, OPC-UA, and other PLC base protocols, through a user-friendly interface for machine status monitoring, real-time reaction, and abnormal function notification capabilities.
