Filtered inlet delivers enhanced attenuation in compact package

13-10-2023 | Schurter | Power

Schurter has expanded its IEC filtered inlet family to include the latest 5124 series, which attains a much higher attenuation than earlier series 5120 and 5123. The enhanced filter performance is achieved by including the latest in high-performance components while preserving the same package dimensions.

The 5124 series has exclusive chokes with high-permeable toroidal cores and an inductance much higher than the earlier series. The increased inductance delivers a 10dB improvement in attenuation of asymmetrical interference signals. Also, the enlarged X-capacitors help counter symmetrical interference. Offered in screw or snap-in mounting, the metal flange and snap-arms make outstanding contact with the chassis when mounted, which further optimises filtering and shielding effects.

The 5124 complements the 5120 and 5123 series by filling attenuation needs, whereas the other two have gaps. Despite the particularly larger components, the 5124 keeps the same dimensions as its predecessors, which provides for interchangeability between series depending on application-specific areas of attenuation needed over the range of frequency to 400MHz. The three series are offered with operating currents 1-10A according to IEC and 1 -15A according to UL in standard or medical low leakage versions. The rated voltage is 250VAC. The series is V-Lock power cord compatible and ENEC, CQC, and cURus approved.

The prolific expansion of electronics equipment puts higher demands on interference suppression for safe and dependable equipment operation. The new 5124 is intended to satisfy such demands and is particularly appropriate in areas of high equipment concentration, such as those found in IT, medical, test and measurement, and industrial automation.
