MPO field TV connector for optical links in harsh environment applications

Amphenol SOCAPEX’s MPO Field solution allows users to transform a standard MPO patchcord into a formidable connector created to resist the toughest environments.

The MPO patchcord is combined into a metallic plug based on MIL-STD-38999 Series III, shell size 13 defence connector, to shield it from shocks, dust and fluids. There is no need for field termination.

MPO Field TV connector combines high speed and high density of well-known MPO/MTP Fibre Optic connectors employing MT ferules, with high resistance of MIL-DTL-38999 Series III Defence shells for multiple harsh environment applications, including high speed embedded network backbones for battleships, armoured vehicles or airplanes and trains, datacentres in harsh environments, trackside measuring and inspection systems for trains, high-resolution real-time video, passenger entertainment...

The 12 or 24 fibre channels are integrated into 28mm diameter 38999 metal shells, with tri thread coupling mechanism, The solution is IP68 sealed when mated and shocks and vibration resistant. No tool or field cabling is needed to implement the solution. It enables anyone to transform a standard MPO Patch cord or more complex assembly into an harsh environment connector extremely easily.
