Mouser now stocks the Thermoflagger Over-Temperature ICs from Toshiba. Created to detect and protect against abnormal heat generation, the Thermoflagger ICs permit engineers to configure over-temperature detection for a complete electronic product easily. The ICs help decrease size and power consumption for various applications, including mobile devices, home appliances, and industrial equipment.
The ICs are designed to be connected in series with PTC thermistors placed near heat sources. The ICs monitor resistance over the thermistors, which increases exponentially in the event of over-temperature. Connecting PTC thermistors in series allows over-temperature detection for multiple locations.
The compact, highly efficient ICs provide low power consumption of 11.3μA, while the standard SOT-553 package makes them an appropriate option for consumer electronic devices such as laptops and mobile devices. The ICs offer an operating supply voltage range of 1.7V to 5.5V, a detect voltage range of 0.36V to 0.64V, and an operating temperature range of -40C to +125C. The over-temperature ICs offer a high PTCO output current accuracy of ±8%, as well as a selectable PTCO output current.
