Mouser now offers the VL53L4ED ToF high-accuracy proximity sensor from STMicroelectronics. The sensor is designed for high-accuracy, short-range measurements requiring extended temperature performance for robotics, presence detection, industrial automation, and system activation applications.
The proximity sensor supports an effective temperature range of -40C to +105C, ensuring accurate measurements even under extreme temperatures. This high-performance sensor provides a short distance linearity of 1mm and an autonomous low-power mode, with an interrupt programmable threshold to wake the host. The sensor offers an 18° FoV for measurements from 1mm up to 1300mm in standard conditions and up to 1150mm under extended temperature. Special settings also deliver an accurate distance measurement of up to 800mm under ambient light conditions (5klx). This sensor provides a fast-ranging frequency of up to 100Hz and is housed in a miniature reflowable package that is a direct derivative of the VL53L4CD, with which it is pin-to-pin compatible. Like all ToF sensors based on STMicroelectronics' FlightSense technology, the sensor records an absolute distance measurement regardless of the target colour and reflectance.
STMicroelectronics X-NUCLEO-53L4A3 expansion board, also available from Mouser, helps learn, evaluate, and develop applications using the VL53L4ED ToF high-accuracy proximity sensor with extended temperature capability. This expansion board is equipped with Arduino UNO R3 connectors for easy connection to any STM32 microcontroller board. The company also stocks the STMicroelectronics SATEL-VL53L4ED breakout board, which provides easy access to all of the VL53L4ED sensor's signal pins for integration into prototypes.
