Lane Electronics has added to its Motorsport Division portfolio with a wide
selection of connector accessories produced by sister Lodge Group company
Weald Electronics.
Lane’s Motorsport Division is centred on the industry and technology leading
Souriau 8STA compact circular connector family which is used extensively
throughout all levels of motorsport in applications such as engine control
units, communications equipment, data acquisition systems and harnesses.
“With immediate effect”, said development manager, Peter Costin, “We have
added Weald’s nut plates and gaskets for all shell sizes from 02 to 24. Nut
plates and gaskets are used by the Motorsport box builders and harness
makers to either hold in place the 8STA range of connectors without the
chance of very small nuts falling into equipment, or for sealing connectors
to carbon / aluminium boxes and so on.”
The Souriau 8STA Series of circular connectors consists of several connector
types, each designed to meet specific motorsport applications. The series
also includes the industry’s smallest circular connector, the Size 02. This
is derived from established military specifications MIL-DTL-38999 and JN1003
and its ultra-compact design and lightweight construction make it ideal for
connecting sensors and other complex electronic systems. Souriau’s 8STA also
includes the smallest and lightest circular connector of its type currently
available and its high density capability provides up to 68 size 26 contacts
using 24 to 30 AWG wire. This allows a smaller shell size to be used for the
same application, says the company.
