Würth Elektronik’s WE-EPLE USB 2.0 type A jack, the world’s first USB
connector with an integrated EMC filter and ESD protection, is now available
from Farnell element14.
The jack is pad-compatible with most conventional USB connectors and has the
same dimensions. Existing designs can be transformed into EMC-compatible
designs with ease.
The integrated EMC filter eliminates broadband interference on voltage and
signal lines, while being almost invisible to the signal lines. This results
in:
1 - Vcc filter impedance above 100ohm in the 20MHz range to far in excess of
1GHz
2 - Common-mode suppression at 240MHz far in excess of 250ohm
3 - ESD suppression at levels of low 10V at level 4 ESD pulses with 15kV.
The connectors are compatible with the USB 2.0 standard and suit
applications such as circuit protection (without additional redesign due to
EMI noise reduction), most USB applications and space-constrained
applications areas, says the company.
