Grid-EYE infrared array sensor evaluation kit speeds development

12-11-2015 | Farnell element14 | Design & Manufacture

The Grid-EYE Infrared (IR) Array sensor evaluation kit is now available from Farnell element14. It combines Panasonic's industry leading Grid-EYE sensor, the 'nanopower' PAN1740 Bluetooth Smart module and a microcontroller on one PCB. By combining its new IR sensor technology with Bluetooth technology it enables engineers to design and develop wireless sensor prototypes quickly. Based on thermopile technology, Grid-EYE can detect the direction of moving people and objects - up, down, left, right and diagonally. Its coordinated array of sensing elements can even detect multiple people or objects moving in different directions. At close proximity, the Grid-EYE sensor is even capable of detecting hand movements for simple gesture control.
