Low-power modules target asset-tracking, telematics and wearable applications

03-05-2016 | U-Blox | Subs & Systems

Latest from U-blox is the 8 module series which follows the launch in January of the 8 GPS/GLONASS receiver platform, an update of the 7 platform. The new module portfolio addresses power sensitive usage, whereas the existing M8 platform continues to serve applications where navigation performance and highest accuracy are paramount. The new EVA-8M, NEO-8Q, MAX-8Q and MAX-8C module come after their 7 series predecessors, with which they are pin compatible for easy migration. The 8 series offers significant improvements compared to the 7 series. The tracking sensitivity has been increased by 4dB, and is now -166dBm. New features include geofencing, advanced anti-spoofing and anti-jamming functions. Power consumption is down by 13%, making the modules ideal for applications such as asset tracking, telematics, sports, and wearables.
