Evaluation kits for easy-to-install high-reliability switches

Luso Electronics has announced availability of evaluation kits for Veetronix’s 09 series of high-reliability switches and keycaps aimed primarily for use in the broadcasting sector among other applications. Consisting of four mounted 09 series switches on a PCB, the compact sample kit allows engineers to evaluate the quality of the component and how it feels to touch. The 09 series features a novel hermetically-sealed design that ensures no moving parts touch the contacts and air, dust, moisture or gas are prevented from contaminating the switch to ensure reliability. Based on Veetronix’s proprietary technology, the 09 series includes a light pipe rather than providing its own illumination to enable customers to fit any LED of their choice to the PCB and implement the switch on top. The 09 switches, therefore, deliver an overall solution that is simpler to implement and more cost effective than traditional types. Various keycaps, sizes and colours are also available including solid caps and relegendable types with laser-etched and custom-designed sets. Electrical specifications include operating temperature range from –40C to +90C; minimum reed life of 50 million cycles; and maximum ratings of 200V(DC) switching voltage and 500mA current.
