The USB Type-C connector offers a compact form factor and a durable interface. They can be used for slim mobile devices and also for a variety of other applications. These include computer equipment, industrial machinery, power adapters, and audio visual equipment.
They have a reversible plug orientation that resolves the inconvenience of earlier type USB connectors and can transfer data at up to 10GB with a power capability of 100W (@ 20V) via one connector.
