Offline buck converter for IoT applications

16-07-2018 | Diodes Inc | Power

Diodes Incorporated is offering the AL17050 universal offline buck converter designed for low-power IoT applications. With its wide AC input voltage range and fully integrated MOSFET, it offers a compact and efficient solution for generating a constant voltage in low-power applications needing to comply with stringent standby power restrictions. The device has been created to allow an AC input voltage between 85VAC and 265VAC, making it ideal for any region. The internal MOSFET can withstand voltages of up to 500V yet is optimised for low-power applications, meaning the device only consumes 100µA of static current. Moreover, the device automatically adapts to low loads, so it provides excellent overall efficiency. The non-isolated design minimises the BoM for manufacturers developing applications for the IoT, such as smart sensors, smart appliances, and connected lighting. The device delivers a constant 3.3V/5V at up to 60mA, making it excellent for devices based on low power MCUs that integrated IoT connectivity such as Bluetooth LE or Zigbee.
