New cost-effective power supply offers medical and industrial safety approvals

Artesyn Embedded Technologies has released the LCM3000 series of AC/DC single-output enclosed power supplies, that can supply up to 3000W output power with medical and industrial safety approvals. Created to be a cost-effective, forced-air bulk front-end power supply, the series provides configurable nominal outputs of 12V, 24V, 36V, or 48V with output adjustability of +/-25% and a maximum current of 250A. A standard 5V/2A housekeeping output allows OEM standby functions even when the equipment is nominally off. With standard features that include power factor correction, digital control, variable speed 'smart fans', a five-year warranty and a typical efficiency of more than 90%, the company claims to be providing premium functionality at prices competing with more basic power supplies available in the market. The series measures 11" x 7" x 2.5" (approximately 280mmx 177.8mm x 63.5mm) and provides a power density of 15.7W per cubic inch. The series is ideal for industrial applications such as test and measurement equipment, laser-carving machines, industrial robotics, and factory automation; non-patient contact and non-patient critical medical, dental and laboratory applications; as well as for telecom and datacom equipment. With simple firmware options, the series can be used for battery charging and driving LED lights.
