Maxim Integrated MAX20046EVKIT Evaluation Kit demonstrates the company's MAX20046 Automotive Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Protector Switch IC. The Switch IC provides high-ESD and short-circuit protection for low-voltage internal USB data and USB power lines in automotive navigation, radio, connectivity, and USB hub applications.
The device shields the USB BUS, D+, and D- data lines from overvoltage conditions, such as ESD and short-to-battery events. The device can pass high-speed USB differential (D+ and D-) signals up to 480Mbps and has a low 500mOhm RON (max) for the BUS and a 3.3Ohm RON (typ) for the D+ and D- lines.
The kit is powered by the USB BUS. An on-board MAX15007A automotive regulator gives the IN reference voltage. If a 60mA/120mA current threshold is wanted, the MAX20046GTC/V+ can be ordered and interchanged with U1.
