HIROSE has created the robust ix Industrial series of connectors for space-constrained industrial applications requiring high-speed signal transmission up to 10Gbps.
The connector series decreases functional space by up to 75% and footprint by two-thirds in comparison to RJ45 solutions. Supporting CAT5e (1Gbps) and CAT6A (10Gbps) cabling, the series I/O connector highlights an optimised EMI/ESD shielding design for safe and secure data transmission up to 10Gbps.
The series is compliant with the standard IEC 61076-3-124. The range feature receptacles and plugs with two keying codes, differentiating Ethernet according to IEEE 802.3 from other applications.
There are two receptacle types among the variations. The upright right-angle type can be installed in parallel with a pitch distance of only 10mm to preserve space. The vertical type enables the mating plug to be mated from the top, providing design flexibility.
As well as the upright right angle and vertical type, a horizontal right-angle type is being developed. The horizontal right angle is created with a height of 5.7mm, less than half the height of the company's RJ45 connector. This version is excellent for employment in devices where space is limited in height direction and can also be employed for thin-type control panels and FA control equipment.
The receptacle shell is installed on the board via through-hole solder legs to improve the retention to the board and to counter the wrenching of the cable assembly, protecting the surface-mount contacts.
The plugs are offered in IDC and solder type. The wire-termination unit and cable clamp are integrated into a continuous metal shell, which stops the connecting part of the cable assembly from being influenced by the load on the cable.
