High power connectors can handle up to 850A

Lane Electronics now offers a series of power connectors developed to satisfy the most demanding applications where high power and shielding are needed. Applications will comprise all types of defence vehicles as well as EV platforms. The Souriau 8D Series is produced by Eaton.

Developed to satisfy the needs of MIL-DTL-38999, the threaded coupling connectors are offered in three sizes of aluminium alloy shell, each accommodating a single silver-plated power contact: Size 19 can handle up to 450A, Size 23 up to 650A while Size 25 can handle up to 850A, all at 40C.

The connectors comprise a high-performance contact design to provide no micro disconnect under vibration as well as high contact endurance and low contact resistance. The contact engagement point is recessed for safety and to prevent arcing during mating/unmating. The pin contact is fitted with a plastic cap to stop electric shock.

Finished as standard in Cadmium Olive Drab or Black Zinc Nickel, the series offers a modular design to make installation simple. This incorporates a removable backshell, straight, right angle or threaded contact and backshell termination by shrink boot. Over the three shell sizes, it is feasible to crimp diverse cable types from 50mm2 to 185mm2. The series has been designed to be good for 500 mating/unmating operations.
