Lane Electronics now offers a series of 2mm pitch, two-part rectangular connectors that have been designed for the most demanding, high-reliability applications. Manufactured by Nicomatic, the CMM micro-connector series meets and, in many cases, surpasses the demands of MIL-DTL-55302F and BS-9525-F0033.
Being modular, the series can offer users an almost unlimited number of contact arrangements consolidating up to 120 high frequency, low frequency and high-power contacts across one to three rows. In many applications, this hybrid design enables designers to lessen the number of connectors, saving space, weight and product assembly time.
Based on the standard 2mm pitch, the series connectors are ideal for Board-to-Board, Board-to-Wire and Wire-to-Wire configurations. Nick Wheeler, at Lane Electronics, states these rectangular connectors feature a high-reliability contact design that ensures high performance under severe conditions. The connectors are highly resistant to vibrations and shocks with security offered by an integral jacking mechanism or spring latch locking.
“The 2mm contact pitch provides an excellent balance between connector usability, strength and performance and this can equate to as much as 60% reduction in weight and 50% reduction in size compared to other rectangular connector formats. This without any reduction in connector and contact robustness and reliability.” Says Nick Wheeler. “These features and its high-end performance and versatile modular design this makes the Nicomatic CMM series a great choice for platforms such as lightweight autonomous vehicles and drones where they are used for sensors, control systems and communications.” He adds.
CMM Series connectors are manufactured from a plastic material which resists radiation and solvents, is oxygen-free and absorbs no humidity. This PPS material provides very wide temperature cycling between -60C and + 260C.
