Review Display Systems now offers a 3.5" single board computer (SBC) from AAEON. The GENE-CML5 board provides Intel 10th Generation Intel Core i3, i5, and i7, Pentium and Celeron processors in a 3.5" subcompact form factor.

Supporting processors with 8-core, 16-thread technology, and a CPU frequency of up to 4.4GHz, the device allows developers and end-users to maintain, scale, and upgrade their computing platform to satisfy specific processing demands.

With 64GB DDR4 memory, the device achieves processing speeds equivalent to that of desktop PC systems. Furthermore, three onboard Intel chipset options, the Q470E, Q470 and H420E, are available, which allow the compact board to support Intel vPro, iAMT and TPM2.0, facilitating remote system monitoring and management.

Expansion is also provided for, with the device offering an M.2 2280 M-Key slot which can support AI expansion modules and NVMe storage. Users additionally have access to four-lane PCIe 3.0 expansion slots with an FPC connector. Other storage options incorporate two SATA III (6Gbps) slots, allowing storage expansion.

Peter Marchant, embedded division manager, RDS, said: “The GENE-CML5 offers flexibility, performance and expansion capability to enable integration into existing projects and new designs. Support for Intel’s 10th Generation processors will ensure that more than adequate processing power is available for embedded industrial and edge computing applications.”

A comprehensive range of I/O includes dual Gigabit LAN ports, two USB3.2 Gen2 ports, four USB2.0 ports and two RS-232/422/485 serial ports. Networking performance is improved with the Intel i210 network controller and optional i211 controller on some variants, which support Ethernet speeds of up to 2.5GbE. Display interface options are ably supported with onboard DisplayPort++, LVDS, and VGA interfaces.
