Automotive load switch with adjustable rise time and voltage monitoring

02-08-2022 | Texas Instruments | Automotive & Transport

The Texas Instruments TPS2295x-Q1 are small, single-channel load switches with controlled turn-on. The devices comprise an N-channel MOSFET that can function over an input voltage range of 0.7V to 5.7V and support a maximum continuous current of 5A.

The integrated adjustable UVLO and adjustable PG threshold supplies voltage monitoring and robust power sequencing. The adjustable rise-time control of the device significantly lowers inrush current for various bulk load capacitances, which reduces or eliminates power supply droop. The switch is independently controlled by an on and off input (EN), which can interface directly with low-voltage control signals. A 15-Ohm on-chip load is incorporated into the device to quickly discharge the output when the switch is disabled. The enhanced QOD remains active for a short time after power is removed from the device to finish discharging the output.

The devices are supplied in small, space-saving 10-SON packages with an integrated thermal pad, providing for high power dissipation. The device is characterised for operation across the free-air temperature range of –40C to +125C.
