Modular high-voltage connectors for e-mobility applications

TTI Europe now stocks the PowerTube connector series from TE Connectivity. Aimed at e-mobility applications in industrial and commercial vehicles, the connector series is constructed to handle the large electrical loads in e-motor, inverter and battery pack subsystems.

The connector system is obtainable in multiple wire size options, between 35mm² and 150mm², and can withstand up to 580A and, depending on wire size and temperature, to 1000V. The robust design withstands engine-level vibration and circular 360° shielding (shield current up to 30% of the main current), helping ensure high EMC performance.

Manufactured with scalability and modularity, the header is obtainable in 180° or 90° orientations and up to three positions per connector. This is complemented by a unique cube-shaped busbar interface that permits connectivity independent of busbar orientation.

Along with its modularity, a refined circular design significantly simplifies cable routing and connector assembly, helping vehicle manufacturers reduce the total applied system cost. With IP6K9K dust and water ingress protection, CPA and an HVIL safety feature in each pin, the connector helps ensure reliable, safe connectivity.
