Mascot AS has introduced its next-generation high-quality, high-performance NiMH battery charger, the new model 4040 NIMH. The 4040 uses a three-stage charging profile with an MCU to maximise battery performance. The new charger has robust -dV sensitivity detection and its top-off charge ensures that all cells are fully charged and balanced.
The safety protection features include error indication for reverse polarity, short circuit, charging battery packs with the wrong number of cells and safety timer run-out. The 4040 NiMH also features a single 3-colour LED indicator light for charge-, error- or standby status, and a wall-mount bracket is available.
Using a Configurable Battery Charger (CBC) toolkit with a PC interface, it is feasible to configure the chargers through their output cable with a range of custom charge parameter settings, including dV, dT/dt, 0 dV, timer, safety timer, dV threshold and temperature gradient adjustment. The CBC is also configurable in the field. Other custom specifications are offered on request, including special connectors, cords, logo print, housing/open frame/IP rating and certificates.
The device is ideal for various applications from medical to consumer; owners of the new charger will enjoy optimised uptime and turnaround for battery-powered equipment such as medical devices, telecom, energy storage and power-assisted E-Mobility products. The device is medically certified according to EN 60601-1 ed. 3.2 and Home Healthcare EN 60601-1-11. It is also UL-approved. Five standard versions are initially available for charging batteries from six to eight cells (8A/13.6V) to 25-40 cells (1.8A/64.0V). Custom units are available on request.
