Reliable ultra-fine pitch PCB connectors with 28Gbps NRZ performance now available

Samtec has announced the availability of its SS4/ST4 Series ultra-micro-PCB connectors that provide an ultra-fine 0.4mm pitch, enabling maximum signal density at 28Gbps NRZ performance. The SS4/ST4 PCB board-to-board mated set has the smallest overall footprint of the company's Ultra Micro circuit board interconnect product line. Yet, it is extremely reliable in high data rate rugged environments such as automotive, industrial IoT, robotics, defence, and aerospace.

The mated ultrafine pitch board-to-board connector set has an operating temperature of -55C to +125C and high normal force, making it well-suited for rugged environments. SS4/ST4 can be used alongside the company's SureWare precision board stacking standoffs to lock the mating PCBs in place or assist in blind mating. It offers certified IATF 16949 Level 3 PPAP SS4/ST4 solutions for inside-the-vehicle automotive applications.

The microblade and beam contact system has a blade on one side and a beam on the other, is mating and alignment-friendly and enables higher-density interconnects at high speeds. Built-in keying features also support proper connector mating and unmating.

SS4/ST4 offer a slim 4.35mm (0.171") mated width for space savings on the PCB. Various catalogue standard pin counts and stack height options enable design flexibility with quick delivery. Pin counts range from 20 to 100, and stack heights range from 4mm to 6mm. For pin counts from 20 to 160 at 56Gbps PAM4, refer to the SS5/ST5 0.5mm pitch connectors.
