Switchboard energy management using panel server

Conrad Sourcing Platform now offers the Schneider Electric PAS600L expansion module. It has introduced this next-generation IoT gateway: “The PAS panel server is a data server fitted to a switchboard cabinet,” explains Manuel Gschwend, product manager at Conrad Electronic. “It uses embedded webpages to visualise equipment, meter and sensor data via wireless and Modbus RTU protocol while Modbus TCP directly connects devices to controller technology.”

Transparent energy management turns switchboard cabinets into easily integrable building blocks of an energy management strategy. Panel servers allow usage analysis and load profiling, which improves energy efficiency and reduces power consumption. The collected data is forwarded in bundles that help set up the energy management system. The module processes information obtained from up to 64 wireless and/or Modbus RTU devices. In addition, Modbus TCP protocol allows a seamless, transparent and register-conform connection to controllers and control systems.

Comprehensive usage analysis reduces consumption and downtime. Moreover, nonstop heat monitoring helps minimise the risk of electrical fires. The Universal PAS600L panel server allows setting up energy management systems that comply with ISO 50001, ISO 50002 (DIN 16247-1), and ISO 50006 standards.

Built-in web servers and embedded webpages allow real-time data evaluation, with no additional software needed. Independent of the cabinet’s location, readings can be displayed sorted by media, zones, and the type of meter used. One really handy feature is the automatic recognition of all used devices when you configure the system. And choosing alarm setups is just as easy.
