Robust LED family are more compact and heat-resistant

Würth Elektronik adds two new variants to its successful WL-SMTW LED series. The SMT-mountable mono-colour top-view LEDs are now available in a 1608 package. New LEDs are being added to the standard 3528 package, which provides an increased operating temperature of up to 100C. The water-clear glass used allows precise colour rendering at maximum intensity in five or six different colours.

With dimensions of just 1.6mm × 0.8mm × 0.55mm, the new 1608 variant expands the product line with particularly compact LEDs. These LEDs have proven to be highly reliable and energy-efficient. The miniature components are obtainable in blue, green, yellow, amber, and two shades of red with 630nm or 640nm wavelengths. Like all LEDs in the series, they emit no UV and IR.

The WE-SMTW 3258 HIGHTA is the third series of LEDs from the company, following WL-SMCW 0603 and WL-SMTD, that can withstand temperatures up to 100C. The 3.5mm × 2.8mm × 1.85mm LEDs are available in blue, green, yellow, amber, and red.

The robust and energy-efficient LEDs have wide-ranging application options. They are appropriate for signage and indirect lighting, backlighting in telecommunications applications or LCDs, fibre optic technology, and industrial and medical technology applications.
