Monolithic Power Systems MPQ7235 Automotive Infrared LED Drivers, available now from Mouser, provide a high-frequency, synchronous, rectified, step-down, switch-mode LED device with integrated power MOSFETs. The device delivers a continuous output current (ILED) of 1.5A, and a peak LED current (IPEAK) of 3A. The device achieves outstanding load and line regulation over a wide input supply range. High efficiency is achieved through a synchronous mode operation.

The drivers implement low PWM dimming frequencies at small dimming duty cycles. Further, the device offers PWM dimming frequencies as low as 10Hz to adjust infrared radiation (IR) LED driver applications. It is compatible with 30fps, 60fps, and 120fps dimming. The device provides a fast transient response and eases loop stabilization through a current-mode operation. Complete protection features such as OCP and thermal shutdown are available.

The device is AEC-Q100 qualified, in a space-saving QFN-13 (2.5mm x 3mm) package, and needs a minimal number of standard external components.

Typical application areas include IR LED drivers for driver monitoring systems, IR illumination for cameras, and surveillance systems.
