Texas Instruments TPS2HB50-Q1 Dual-Channel Smart High-Side Switch is designed for usage in 12V automotive systems. The device combines robust protection and diagnostic features to assure output port protection, even throughout harmful events like short circuits in automotive systems. The device defends against faults through a reliable current limit, which, depending on device variant, is adjustable from 2A to 18A. The high current limit range provides for use in loads that need large transient currents, while the low current limit range gives improved protection for loads that do not need high peak currents. The device can reliably drive various load profiles.

The switch also gives a high accuracy analog current sense that provides for improved load diagnostics. By reporting load current and device temperature to a system MCU, the device allows predictive maintenance and load diagnostics that improve the system lifetime. The TPS2HB50A-Q1 has a current range limit of 2A to 10A, while the TPS2HB50B-Q1 has a current limit range of 3.6A to 18A. The TPS2HB50-Q1 is offered in an HTSSOP package, which provides for a reduced PCB footprint.

Typical applications include in an automotive display module, ADAS modules, seat comfort module, transmission control unit, HVAC control module, body control modules, and LED lighting.
