Silicon Labs has launched what is claimed to be the industry’s most comprehensive portfolio of automotive-grade timing solutions created to satisfy the demanding clocking requirements of in-vehicle systems.
The new AEC-Q100-qualified timing devices comprise Si5332 any-frequency programmable clock generators, Si5225x PCIe Gen1/2/3/4/5 clocks, Si5325x PCIe buffers and Si5335x fanout clock buffers. These timing devices assist automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to simplify clock tree design, decrease system points of failure, improve system reliability and optimise the performance of high-speed serial data transfer. The devices are aimed at a wide variety of automotive applications including radar and LIDAR sensors, camera sub-systems, ADAS, autonomous driving control units, infotainment systems, driver monitoring cameras, Ethernet switches, and GPS and 5G connectivity.
“Silicon-based timing solutions have provided performance, reliability, BOM consolidation and cost benefits to the communications, data centre and industrial markets for many years,” said James Wilson, general manager of Timing Products at Silicon Labs. “Our new automotive-grade timing portfolio – the broadest in the industry – provides these same benefits to automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and other automotive technology companies delivering innovations that are redefining how we drive, navigate and experience our cars.”
