Diodes Incorporated offers its first LDO linear regulators compliant to AEC-Q100 Grade 1. The AP7315Q and AP7343Q produce 150mA and 300mA respectively and are ideal for any automotive application that needs tight voltage regulation over operating conditions, such as point-of-load power supplies in ADAS, infotainment systems, RF communications, and cameras.
Automotive manufacturers are combining a growing level of ADAS into transportation with sensors and other sensitive circuits that necessitate highly stable power supplies. With full PPAP capability, these linear regulators can be employed in automotive applications that need product qualified to AEC-Q100 with a Grade 1 (-40C to +125C) temperature rating.
The devices give useful alternatives to switching regulators in extremely demanding automotive applications. As well as current limiting and short-circuit protection, the LDOs highlight an enable input that enables the linear regulators to be switched off when not needed. While in use, the regulators provide a low quiescent current of just 35μA. Both devices are also offered with (AP7315DQ/43DQ) and without (AP7315Q/43Q), an output capacitor discharge feature, which is often needed to guard sensitive loads during shutdown, such as CMOS image sensors.
