Mouser now stocks Molex's Premo-Flex round flat cable (RFC) jumpers. These jumpers allow designers and OEMs to maximise limited PCB space and lower component costs by eliminating the necessity for connectors or wire stripping while providing reliable board-to-board connections. They are excellent for space-constrained applications requiring rugged performance, including automotive, industrial, aerospace, medical, consumer, and home appliances.
The RFC jumpers feature round-end contacts, eliminating the need for a connector and allowing the contacts to be soldered directly to the PCB using a wave soldering process. These jumpers are not just flexible, but also highly reliable, even in the most demanding environments. They are designed to be highly resistant to vibration and bending, ensuring superior signal integrity in a multitude of challenging conditions.
The jumpers can have round contacts throughout or flattened contacts in selected locations to produce a round-flat-round or round-to-flat contact style jumper. Termination options for the jumpers include flat contacts with a zero-insertion force (ZIF) or a low-insertion force (LIF) connector, round contacts with through-hole soldering, or hybrid options that provide flat contacts on one end and round contacts on the other.
The RFC jumpers are supplied with polyester, aramid, and polyimide insulation options. These products meet Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) requirements and are created to withstand high temperatures, with polyester variants rated up to +105C and polyimide and aramid variants rated up to +125C.
